IEC Florida First Coast is a new chapter of the Independent Electrical Contractors, organizing merit-shop electrical contractors across Duval, Clay, St. Johns, Nassau and Baker counties, and standing up the four-year apprenticeship program to go with it.

A four-year, USDOL-aligned electrical apprenticeship. Class one night a week, full-time paid work the rest of it. Apprentices finish with the hours and the classroom credit the state wants to see on a journeyman application.

Northeast Florida is short electricians and every contractor in the room knows it. The chapter exists to fix the supply side locally and to put independent contractors in front of the boards and agencies that set the rules.
What IEC doesThe chapter
Every electrical contractor in Northeast Florida is fighting the same two problems: not enough licensed hands, and no local pipeline producing more of them. Companies here train apprentices one at a time, in-house, with no shared curriculum and no classroom to send them to.
IEC Florida First Coast is the fix contractors build together. We run the school so no single shop has to. We hold the accreditation, the instructors and the lab; member companies supply the jobsite hours and the paycheck.
The chapter is organizing now. Founding members are being seated through [MONTH YEAR], and the board is being formed from that group.

Stand up a licensed, nationally-recognized apprenticeship on the First Coast so contractors stop importing journeymen from out of market.

Run continuing education, code update and safety training that keeps licenses current without a trip to Orlando or West Palm.

Put contractors, distributors and manufacturers in the same room on a regular schedule, monthly instead of annually.

Speak for independent electrical contractors on licensing, permitting and workforce policy across the five-county region.
